Research Priority Area:

Basic theoretical science research is a prerequisite for all scientific, technical and modern medical research. It is a prerequisite for concentrated future efforts within all high-technology research fields that theoretical science is of a very high quality.

The common application of mathematical methods and concepts in theoretical modelling in all science disciplines enables a dialogue across research topics and department borders within the Faculty of Science, and Theoretical Science is appointed a Priority Area in the University contract with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

To stimulate and support activities within the Priority Area, the Centre for Theory in Natural Science (CTN) has been established. The centre will act as coordinator of joint activities, lectures, courses and symposia, and it will attract public and private funding for PhD, post doc, and guest professor programmes.
